Many posts down, I covered this with scientific precision. Yes, I'm a microbiologist by education, and I know my way around graduated cylinders.
The Savage holds 68 ounces (2 quarts plus 4 ounces US). The manual that says it holds 3 quarts is *wrong*! Drain out the extra oil, or you will have foaming and lost oil pressure, which will almost certainly do damage to your camshaft.
